The Speech Where Everything Went Wrong
At the 2023 AEE International Awards, I was scheduled to speak last. By the time I got to the stage, every other winner had already used pieces of my prepared remarks: the Al Gore quote, the statistics, even my joke about AEE leadership. I had to throw out my script and talk about what I actually care about: the global food supply and why I do this work.
It ended up being my favorite speech I’ve ever given.
